I heard trophy hunting supporters want an open and honest debate. Let’s put that to the test.
Email me at wildthingsinitiative@gmail.com if you want to debate me on anything related to trophy hunting and sustainable use.
I used to think that debates were pointless and dumb but I changed my view this year. I am open to debating anyone – whether it be a trophy hunting industry employee, scientist, activist, right-wing oligarch, etc.
Jens Ulrik Hogh challenged me to a debate seven months ago. I accepted right away. But he went quiet after giving me the excuse that he can’t seem to find an unbiased moderator (which was his requirement – not mine).
He hasn’t responded to my repeated attempts to sort out the specifics of the debate. I’m hopeful Jens will muster up the courage to follow through on his challenge but any other trophy hunting industry employee is more than welcome to set something up with me.
Ryan Dalton tried repairing Amy Dickman’s image within the academic community by inviting her and Sian Sullivan to have a debate on his podcast. I don’t think that will happen given that Dickman threatened legal action against Sullivan and continues to attack her.
I contacted Dalton and Dickman to see if the Into The Wild podcast was interested in platforming a debate between Dickman and me. They haven’t responded.
I bet Dickman would claim she’s open to debating a lot of people except me because I’m some sort of defamatory anti-science person. But let’s be real - it’s because I exposed her relationship with climate deniers and the trophy hunting industry. I doubt she wants to draw more attention to my work.
Send me an email if you’re a scientist that actually wants an open and honest trophy hunting debate. I’m sure there have to be some pro-trophy hunting scientists out there that aren’t afraid of me.
Dalton floated the idea of someone that “benefits” from trophy hunting debating me last year. My immediate reaction was to reject the disingenuous idea given that he lied to my face about his intentions with his pro-trophy hunting propaganda film.
Nevertheless, I’m open to all debates now. Heck, I’m also more than happy to debate Ryan on his podcast. Maybe his trophy hunting industry donors can pay me to fly to the UK so we can do it in person?
I’m easy to reach. Shoot me an email at wildthingsinitiative@gmail.com.
